Health Literacy Survey
This chapter provides information about the Health Literacy Survey (HLS). HLS data is included as part of the National Health Survey 2017-18 microdata.
The HLS was conducted by the ABS in 2018. The sample for the HLS was drawn from respondents aged 18 years and over who had already participated in the 2017-18 National Health Survey and agreed to be contacted for further ABS surveys. The HLS was conducted from January 2018 to August 2018 with a sample of 7,224 adults. Of that, there were 5,790 fully responding adults.
The demographic and health-related information available through the HLS is the same as that collected through the National Health Survey, and these items are described in other chapters of this Users Guide.
